TOP STORIES Four militants killed on LoC in Kupwara | KNO 'Second major bid in the ensuing month' Published 166 weeks ago on June 23, 2023 By Tasaduq Hussain Kupwara, June 23 (KNO): Four militants were killed along the Line of Control (LoC) at Kala Jungle area of Machil sector in north Kashmir's Kupwara district in a joint operation of Army and Police. In a tweet, Kashmir Police as per the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) ,said that that four militants have been killed in the encounter while they were trying to infiltrate in to this side. Police tweeted "In a joint operation, Army and Police have killed four #terrorists in Kala Jungle of Machhal sector in #Kupwara who were trying to infiltrate to our side from POJK." It may be recalled that this is the fourth gunfight in the district in recent days. Earlier two militants were killed in a joint operation by Army and Police at Dobanar in Machil sector. Following which this year's biggest infiltration bid in kashmir along LoC in Jumagand woods was foiled on June 16 leading to killing of five militants in a joint operation. Notably, the infiltration graph since the 2021 February pact between the two armies was in decline compared with the figures of previous years including the instances of ceasefire violations.
